GOLFING

HIKING within 25 miles

  • Short and sweet: Adams Falls and Coyote Valley N. of Grand Lake is an easy 1-mile trail with no climb.

  • Moderate hikes: Big Meadow Trail from the Green Mountain Trailhead near Grand Lake is a friendly 1.7-mile hike. Tombstone Ridge is a kid-friendly 4-miler through the alpine tundra with jaw-dropping mountain views.

  • Serious hikers will love Timber Lake trail, a 12-mile out-and-back hike with waterfalls and wildlife. The trail eventually climbs to a beautiful alpine lake. There is some scrambling necessary over a landslide, but it’s a generally moderate hike with little traffic and abundant solitude and scenery.

MUSEUMS

  • The Moffat Road Railroad Museum features a working display of the Moffat Road Railroad, the highest standard gauge railroad ever built in the United States, which operated between 1905 and the 1960s.

  • The Emily Warner Field Aviation Museum celebrates the history of aviation in Grand County. Located in the former Rocky Mountain Airways airline terminal of Granby/Grand County Airport.

  • Pioneer Village Museum, originally the Hot Sulphur Schoolhouse built in 1924, the Pioneer Village Museum was transformed into a museum in 1974. The museum is a 10-minute drive from Granby, and you can see tools, some are up to 8,500-years-old, pioneer clothing, and other historic Grand County artifacts on display.
